A market projection is a forecast wearing the clothes of a measurement.

Total addressable market figures, category growth rates, and adoption forecasts are frequently produced by organizations with a commercial interest in the number being large. The independence component scores exactly that, and in this category it does a lot of work.

Investing claims fail differently. They tend to be true of a period, a sample, or a set of conditions that no longer hold, and the qualifier disappears somewhere between the research note and the headline.

Nothing here is investment advice, and no edition tells you what to buy. It tells you what a number can support.

How every claim is scored

Peer reviewed, preprint, self-published report, vendor material, or press release.
Sample and method0 to 20
Sample size, how subjects were selected, and whether the underlying data is available.
Independence0 to 20
Does the publisher sell the solution its own finding recommends.
Replication0 to 20
Has anyone independently reproduced it with a comparable method.
Drift0 to 20
How far the popular use of the claim sits from what the source actually says.

Questions

Is this financial advice?

No. It scores the evidence behind public claims. It does not make recommendations about any security or investment.

Why are forecasts scored at all?

Because they get cited as though they were findings. A forecast can still be scored on the quality and independence of the work behind it.

What else gets covered?

Technology, security, science and health, and any category where a claim is being used to justify a decision.

Where this stands today. The scored record currently covers artificial intelligence and cybersecurity claims. This subject is in scope and has not been scored yet. We are telling you that rather than implying a back catalogue that does not exist. The record shows exactly what has been scored.
